Prof. Sarat C. Tripathy

Dr. S. C. Tripathy was born on lst Nov, 1937 in Orissa. He did his schooling in his native state. He studied Bachelor’ degree course with Physics honours in Ravenshaw College at Cuttack and obtained 1st division and distinction in 1957. He then joined Indian Instititute of Science, Bangalore for studying Electrical Technology for three years and passed in 1st class. Subsequently in 1963 he got his Master’s degree in Electrical Machines from Banaras Hindu University, where he worked on the faculty of Electrical Engineering till l967. The same year he proceeded to the United states of America to join the graduate program in Electrical Engineering and obtained his Ph. D. degree in 1970. Then he joined EE faculty of Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, where he was a Professor till 2001. He was also Head, Centre for Energy Studies at IITD from 1989 to 1992. He is a presently a Professor in Electronics and Communication Engineering at ITM, Gurgaon (Haryana). Prof. S. C. Tripathy has published 150 papers in Electrical Power Journals. He has guided 20 Ph. D’s. He has been abroad many times on visiting faculty assignments. He is a Fellow of Institution of Electrical Engineers (U.K.).
