He received M.Sc. (Physics) from Punjab University in 1951; DIISC (Electrical Technology) in 1954 from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and M.S. (Microwave Communication Engineering) in 1957 from Ohio State University, USA. He served as research asstt. in Cornell University from 1957-63. He also served as faculty member in Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Also Served at AlFalah University in Libya (1979-81) and Sheffield University, UK (1974). Currently he is serving as Professor at ITM since 1997. Worked in areas like Cosmic rays, High field Emission for Microwave generation, noise in electron beams, Phased arrays.
