Professor , ECE & EI Deptt.

L.N.Das Graduated in B.Sc. (Engg) Electrical from Bihar College of Engineering, PatnUniversity , Patna in 1963 with specialization in Industrial Electronics.

Then he did M.Tech. with specialization in Electronic Instrumentation from Regional Engineering College, Warangal ( Presently National Institute of Technology), Andhra Pradesh during 1966-1968 under Osmania University, Hyderabad.

For a period of one year (1964-65), he was employed as Junior Engineer (Electrical) in M/S Tata Iron & Steel Co. Ltd., Jamshedpur and had the responsibility of service, operation and maintenance of electrical power system and related instrumentation and control system in thermal power plant and mill drive areas.

He then Joined as Lecturer in 1965 in the Electrical Engg. Department of Regional Institute of Technology ( Presently, National Institute of Technology), Jamshedpur and had various responsibilities related to academic activities till 1974 with regard to teaching and establishing various laboratories.

Later on, he Joined as Scientist (Electronics & Instrumentation) in 1974 at National Metallurgical Laboratory ( C.S.I.R Govt. of India)), Jamshedpur and had the responsibility of installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of various sophisticated Electronic Instrumentation Systems as used in the material and metallurgical testing and research and also the design and development of Instrumentation systems as required by research scientists.

During his initial period at N.M.L., he executed a highly prestigious UNIDO Project:

Establishment of Central High Temperature Material Testing Facility for Design and Development of high temperature materials and components for nuclear power reactors, boilers, gas and steam turbines, petro-chemical process reactors etc. during 1974-75.

He was deputed to United Kingdom for undergoing advanced training in the design maintenance and testing philosophy of modern sophisticated electronic instruments and instrumentation systems in different laboratories of National importance for a period of six month.

He further established a Test and Calibration Facility in 1995 and got accreditation under ISO-9000 Quality Accreditation System to take care of internal calibration of instruments and also for the outside industries. Later on, he was promoted to the Deputy Director and Head ( Instrumentation and Electronics) in 1987 and continued to hold that post till his superannuation from the N.M.L. service in December 2000.

To share his long standing experience, skill and expertise, He joined I.T.M. Gurgaon as Chief Design Engineer in the department of ECE & EI in February 2001 and took up various responsibilities related to academic activities. During this period he established -state of the art ‘Industrial process Control Laboratory’ in the department to equip students with the latest knowledge and philosophy of industrial process control technology . He was recently promoted the rank of Professor and continue to hold the same.

He has attended more than 30 National & International Conferences/ Seminars and presented papers. Many of the papers have been published in the conference proceedings.
