Prof. J. K. Gera

Following his retirement from the India Air Force after 24 years of meritorious service, Mr. J. K. Gera was appointed in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at ITM on 28th april 1997. During his tenure with the Indian Air Force, Mr. J. K. Gera served as Deputy Director at Air Headquarters, New Delhi responsible for maintenance of Russian Aircraft Support Vehicles and Equipment. His other senior appointments included, Officer-in-Charge, responsible for overhaul of aero engines and components at the Base Repair Depot and Engineering Officer at Army Aviation Training Wing, responsible for managing preventive, corrective and condition based maintenance of sophisticated and complex systems, as well as, teaching engineering subjects to pilots under training at Army Aviation wing.

Mr. J. K. Gera has attended a number of professional courses at the Indian Air Force training Institute, ICIM, Institute of Flight Safety, Indian Oil Corporation and Electronic Systems Punjab Ltd. He has also undertaken research work at I.I.T., New Delhi on reliability and maintainability analysis of aircraft systems and components based on Reliability centered Maintenance concept. Besides being a member of the Aeronautical Society of India, Society of Automotive engineers. Mr. J. K. Gera is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers.

He teaches Automobile Engineering, I.C. Engines, Power Plant Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, Emerging Automotive Technologies and Industrial Engineering. He is responsible for setting up, modernization and maintenance of labs in the department.
